BR 1-09: The RUNAWAY PANCAKE (Mairi Mackinnon, 2006)

"I'm delicious but you'll never catch me!"

When seven hungry children have pancakes for breakfast, one pancake refuses to be eaten. The pancakes jumped right out of the pan and rolled out of the door. The pancake rolled out of the gate and into the road, faster ad faster. The runaway pancake escaped from the whole family, the dog, the rabbit, the duck, the cat, the goat, the fox and a cunning old pig.

However, at last, the pancake was eaten by the old pig. The pig was so clever.

I thought this story was funny, but everyone without the pancake were cruel.

"Why didn't you believe me?"

Sam lived in a little village in the mountains. He took the sheep from the village, and climb the hill to a grassy meadow everyday. Everyday was the same, so he was so bored! Sam thought, "Nobody ever comes up here. Nothing ever happens." One day, he had an idea. "I could make something happen!" He ran down the hill to the village. "Help! A wolf has come out of the forest!" Everyone ran up the hill with him. Puffing and panting, they reached the meadow. However, there were no wolf. The villagers were angry, but Sam just laughed.

A few days later, a week later, he repeated the same thing. The villages thought, "Sam is liar", so everyone didn't believe him.

A few days later, a wolf DID come out of the forest! Sam was terrified. He ran down to the village as fast as he could! Sam said, "I promise you, there's a wolf! Please help!" However, nobody believed him. In the end, Sam had to go back up the hill all alone. His sheep were killed by the wolf. Finally, the villagers came to find him. Sam said, "Why didn't you believe me?" The villagers said, "You always told lies before."

Sam told, "I've learned my lesson. Never again."
Lie is not good. We have to be honest.

I thought lying is so bad. By lying, people become unhappy.

"I'll never ever be naughty again!"

Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Goldilocks. She had lovely golden hair and she looked as good as gold. However, she was very naughty girl. Her mother always said "If you don't stop being naughty, your hair will turn blue." However, she didn't believe, and kept to do something naughty.

One day, she remembered the woods. Her mother always said, "The woods are too dangerous!" That's made Goldilocks want to go there even more. At last, she went into the woods. She felt so fun! She skipped around a corner and saw a pretty little cottage. There was a delicious smell coming from inside, so she walked in without the answer from there. There were three bowls, and she ate the porridge in the tiny bowl all up. Next, there were three chairs, and she tried to sit the tiny chair. It was just right for her, but the chair broke. Also, she looked three beds. She chose a tiny bed and slept on it. As soon as, three bears stomped into the house. They were family. After they looked the state of room, they were angry and sad. Then, they looked for sleeping Goldilocks on the tiny bed. "Who's been sleeping in my bed?" Baby bear began to cry, and his voice so loudly. Goldilocks woke up! She looked at the three bears, opened her mouth and screamed! She ran out of the house. She ran home as fast as she could go.

She said, "I'll never ever be naughty again!"

I thought children must keep mother's words. Too mischief is not good.
